Community Cloth

Today the Year 4 classes finished their piece for the school community cloth.  First we had to draw our Kiwiana/NZ symbol with pencil and paper.  Once we had practised a number of times and perfected our drawing we were allowed to engrave the drawing onto a meat tray.  This was our print tile.  We then had to choose the colour for our print and how we were going to set it out and print it onto our square.  Once these were dry we chose a contrasting colour and painted around the outside of the cloth.  Vivid was added as the finishing touch to frame the print.  We are really looking forward to seeing the cloth all sewn together and displayed in the school.
Here are a few of our finished prints.

Autumn Poems

Today we wrote some beautiful poems about Autumn.
We used our senses for inspiration.

Warm hot fires staring at me
Freezing air floating on my tongue
Air getting colder by the minute
Rustling leaves sounding like old dried up newspapers
Spiky branches on my forehead
Autumn

By Lucy H

Thousands of beautiful flying leaves all around me
Incredible whipping wind that flows through my body
Scary flames all through the land
Cracking acorns underneath my spiky shoes
Cold and freezing chills down my skin
Autumn

By Lexi

Children playing in the leaves
Creamy pumpkin soup slithering down my throat
Autumn weather blowing up my nose
The wind howling and screaming
The cold breeze smacking my cheeks
Autumn

By Emmanuel

Colourful leaves scuba diving off the trees
Cold fresh winds blowing on my skin
The smouldering fires burning slowly
Sausage sizzles on cold days
Shivering, standing on the sideline
Autumn

By Max

Magnificent, crunchy leaves dancing in the stormy weather
Chilly weather whooshing past my face
The slightest scent of marshmallows back at my house
The loud noise of children playing
Grass twinkling when I am bare foot
Autumn

By Ethan

I see golden, falling leaves
I taste cold, mystical air
I smell cold smoke
I hear the wind whistling
I feel crunchy leaves between my toes
Autumn

By Tekken

Autumn trees with fluttering leaves
Juicy fejoias
Fires burning
Trees chattering in the wind
Cold drops of the rain on my body
Autumn

By Emily

Children playing in the leaves
Warm hot chocolate sliding down my throat
Smoke from burning leaves
Cold drafts under my feet when I run along the wood
Spiky leaves as I walk

By Lucy C

The magical leaves dancing on the trees
The warmth of a hot chocolate
Burning fires fill the air
Crackling leaves on the street
The wind blowing through my hair
Autumn

By Isla

Golden leaves falling from the brown trees
Hot chips from my cold, cold house
Lovely milky fluffs from Gloria's Cafe
Smoky fires
Short days, longer nights
Autumn

By Zach

Beautiful and colourful leaves falling slowly from the trees
Invisible wind on my tongue
Smokey fires blowing in the wind
Crunchy leaves in my ears
Soft grass on my bare feet
Autumn

By Flynn

Crunching leaves falling past the trees
Smoke from the fires travelling through the air
Cold mist being pushed by sea breezes
Late afternoon thunder on a sunny day
Stumps of dark trees left with no leaves under my feet
Autumn

By Thomas

Colourful leaves changing colour
Warm soup in a warm house
Leaves falling from the sky
Stormy weather outside the cold air
The invisible wind coming towards my face
Autumn

By Manav

I see leaves flowing from the trees
I taste the chocolatey hot chocolate in my mouth
I smell the cold air
I hear the colourful crunching leaves
I feel the chilly, glorious leaves on the green grass
Autumn

BIG DAY IN!

Tomorrow Room’s 20, 21 and 22 will spend time together at school celebrating the successes of the term as our Spencer Park trip has been cancelled due to the predicted wet weather and very wet ground conditions.

·       We will still have our shared morning tea and sausage sizzle lunch so please send along the cookies and fruit as planned.

·       The children can come along in mufti.

·       We would like the children to bring indoor games which they can play with their peers.

We aim to make it a fun day, a time to come together as a team and use our manaakitanga to share and support our peers.

We would welcome extra help to cook the sausages for lunch, if you can help please come along at 11.45 with a pair of tongs, thank you.

T.H.I.N.K

Today we had a wee chat as a class and decided that we are going to stop and "T.H.I.N.K" before we speak - especially when coming in after our break times.  We are going to use this checklist:

We also thought we could replace inspiring with  IMPORTANT sometimes.
